“Laureate Construction took on the difficult task of renovating my early 1900's duplex in the Glebe. While I had done several other duplex renovations in the past, looking after the trades on my own, I wanted to hand off the contractor portion to someone else this time.
After speaking with Andrew's references and seeing some of his past work, I decided to go ahead as I was confident he had the expertise to handle the type and complexity of the job (especially important due to the age of the home).
The existing, very dated duplex was to be converted from two, one bedroom units into two, two bedroom units. This included demolition and removal of asbestos, removal of supporting walls/installation of structural beams, soundproofing, insulation, obtaining engineering reports/city permits/dealing with city inspectors, new drywall, mudding, painting, plumbing and electrical, new HVAC, new kitchens/bathrooms, flooring, doors/windows etc.
The project started just before COVID closures hit, and continued throughout COVID - this added an extra layer of complexity to the project, but Andrew kept everything moving forward, and worked to reduce delays as much as was possible.
Andrew is a perfectionist and takes pride in quality workmanship. I would not hesitate to work with Andrew at Laureate again.
